Perth local Sam Perry is not your average musician. Armed with only an effect pedal, loop station and his voice, he creates songs on the go and the possibilities are infinite. Read more..
It took the boys from Sun City 12 weeks from their first gig in March to be booked for Parklife. With a bright start to their career, the duo arguably is one of Perth’s most attractive acts at the moment.
Sara Mattsson caught up with Daniel Mackey and Tobias John, to find out what these electro/indie/pop characters are really about. Here’s a look at their adventures so far, their background, influences and of course the writing process.
Daniel (Dan) and Tobias (Tobes) are dressed casually and look happy when they meet me this Tuesday night. I find out Tobes has studied the same course as the one I’m currently in the middle of, so it immediately feels like we get off on the right track. Being 23 and 22-years-old as they are, it’s rather impressive that these guys are doing what they love most in such an early stage in life — and doing it well, for that matter.
We probably just have to say ‘Teenage Crime’ and you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about. This is the kind of track that can be listened to over and over again on repeat. Swedish-born Adrian Lux became a name on everyone’s lips after taking out #6 of triple J’s ‘Hottest 100’ in 2010. He is due to tour Australia exclusively for the first time for Parklife 2011.
So here we go guys, the Parklife 2011 Set times and Map are here on EOP!
Now we have to say first off, don’t get too attached to this one, it does say that it is only a rough guide at this time, so it may change a little bit, but we’ll be sure to make you the first to know!
With a lineup including Lykke Li, Nero, Duck Sauce, Diplo, Magnetic Man amongst soo many amazing artists it looks like it is going to be one hell of an action packed day!
You can download set times and map from clicking right here!
And don’t forget to download your app for the day from the App Store or Android Market! That bad boy has your set times, map, and festival planner on there so it’s a must have for the day!
Sunday 25 September @ 10pm, Ambar
Just because the gates have closed, doesn’t mean the party’s over!
After the sun goes down and the headliners have exited stage right, it’s time for the true party-goers to continue the fun at Perth’s #1 nightclub, Ambar. Celebrate the greatest day of 2011 with the Official Parklife After Party.
Featuring: Special Guests
Supported by: Extra Special
Guests Door sales: $10
Parklife is sooo close now! Hope you all have your tickets for this one, if you’re missing out, well, you’re missing out – Kicking off the festival season with a lineup like this is going to be insane! That and we all know our friends at Fuzzy and Boomtick know how to throw one hell of a party!
So we hope you love this track by Lykke Li, we can’t wait to see her! And keep an eye on us, we’re going to be changing things up in the coming days with something a little more in the theme of Parklife! Have a great one!
Got some spare cash to flash? Maybe $7000 spare? Check out the “Ridiculously Expensive Ticket” released by Parklife!
This is what they had to say about it -
After least year’s successful sell out of the “More Expensive Ticket”, we were curious to know what a festival ticket would like if money was no object
After surveying thousands of Parklife fans we’ve come up with the world’s most flamboyant and ridiculously super-sized festival ticket ever concocted, the “Ridicously Expensive ticket”. As expected it comes with a whopping price, but the good news is that all profits are going to Heaps Decent, an exceptionally worthy cause.
So calling all Sultans and oil barons, it’s time to shine. The new Ridiculously Expensive Ticket has arrived.
The Ticket Features -
• Slip-and-slide festival entry
• A personal drinks caddie (no more queuing)
• An “artist” cabin backstage with personal rider demands
• Portable VIP area with security entourage
• “Coming to America” style sedan chair transport
• Side of stage performance viewings
• Bespoke cocktail named in the purchaser’s honour and offered for sale on the day
• Personal welcome messages main stage video screen
• Adventure featured on the Parklife website
• Access to all of the More Expensive Ticket* benefits + 10 x MET’s for friends and/or lackies
The “Ridiculously Expensive ticket” is available for purchase for all cities, but there is only one available nationally. The ticket provides all the features listed above for the buyer and one friend.
The ticket retails at $7,000 for two people.
Please note, all proceeds will go to the (not very ridiculous) charity, Heaps Decent, an initiative committed to finding and nurturing the creativity of underprivileged and Indigenous young people and emerging artists.
