Fat Shan Records @ The Bakery
My Sunday night at The Bakery started with me getting ‘CRAP’ stamped on my wrist, allowing me entry into the launch of Perth’s newest record label. A hint of what’s to come? As it turns out, not at all.
Review: St Jerome’s Laneway Festival
Yet another St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has been and gone. The big fiesta down at Perth Cultural Centre in Northbridge brought along its usual friendly atmosphere, polite crowd and a splendourific mix of exciting acts. Empire of Perth went down to check out the vibe, chat to people, snap some shots and enjoy the oh-so-anticipated acts.
Review: Big Ape @ Shape Bar – Feb 11, 2012
“Ladies and Gentlemen. We understand that you have come tonight to bear witness to the sound of drum and bass. We regret to announce that this is not the case as instead, we come tonight to bring you, the sonic recreation of the end of the world. Ladies and Gentlemen prepare to hold your colour.
“Okay. F*** it. I lied. It’s drum and bass … What you gonna do?”
Review: Laidback Luke @ Metropolis Fremantle
The Netherlands; most famous for clogs, the rich art culture, being a powerhouse in football, and home to one of few cities in the world where smoking marijuana is legal.
It’s also known for producing some of 21st Century’s most popular DJs too, with the likes of Armin van Buuren and DJ Tiesto hailing from Holland. And the latest DJ making his mark in the music world is Laidback Luke.
Review: Speakeasy feat. New Navy @ Villa
As the sun set on yet another sweltering day, choice people in Perth downed their pre-drinks, straightened their peter pan collars, and made their way to Villa in search for a sea change.
Speakeasy: Nautical Edition.
Review: SLAM Volleyball Festival @ Scarborough Beach
Beach. Sports. Beer. Loud music. Good looking people. Some people might call it heaven.
Perth put on a fabulous day to host the annual SLAM Volleyball Festival at Scarborough Beach on Sunday January 15, 2012.
Throughout the day, it was a magnificent 33 degrees, without a cloud in the sky, and the sun’s ray beaming down enough to get your bronze on (but not hot enough to get overly burnt).
Review: Southbound 2012
It felt like I’d waited all Summer long for January 7 to arrive, and it was finally here. A 5am wake up call and we had hit the road with the car packed with weekend-long supplies and a sweet playlist.
Review: Wonderland 2011
Welcomed into Wonderland by a Mad Hatter, we were handed masks and ushered into a crowd of disguised festival-goers. The late afternoon sun was shining, the Fremantle Doctor was blowing, beats pumping and drinks flowing. Everyone was set for a big night ahead.
