heatwave poster perth I was too naive...So after all is done and dusted, the reality of operating a multi-million dollar festival has settled in – And the reality is, well, pretty harsh.

In a recent interview, Festival operator Whyntie blamed what seemed to be everyone before finally conceding that he was “too naive” and now “sees how brutally important it is to give yourself more than just over a month lead time to sell”.

From missed deadlines, bitchy artists, poor funding, inconsistent crowds – The embattled Heatwave festival didn’t even make it here to Perth, and of course that seemed to be blamed on Perth Promoters as opposed to looking at the creator’s direction of the festival.

At least there was a little concession at the end of it with Whyntie saying, “We unquestionably bit off more than we could chew and the pressure was huge.”  He also thinks that the criticism “makes me focused to prove them wrong in coming year.”

So the big question, will it come back next year?

After a massive show at Splendour in the Grass in 2011 it is now confirmed that Coldplay will return for more shows in 2012.

In an exclusive “eddie-leak”, Triple M Melbourne’s Eddie McGuire had insider knowledge that Coldplay are coming out later this year.

“I was sitting next to (promoter) Michael Gudinski last night and he said Coldplay are coming out later this year,” he revealed on his Hot Breakfast show this morning.

We dont have any details for dates or cities yet but come back later and we might be able to tell you. During the time, enjoy Paradise which just reached 60 Million views on Youtube.
